Despite various rumours about their sexuality and Bert's involvement with Osama Bin Laden protests, they are still much loved characters on Sesame Street. Considering how much I dislike some of the flagship characters (i.e. Elmo***, Zoe, sometimes Big Bird, Baby Bear), I suppose it's quite an achievement that they manage not to piss me off with their singy, singy high-pitched lalalala hateful singing happiness... AAAAAGH!
Seriously though, Sesame street is a brilliant show (despite certain elements), and I've noticed how they cunningly slip in propaganda about sharing and inclusiveness, among other very laudable morals. It's educational, it's amusing (despite certain elements), it's very witty (Read: satire of pop culture, e.g. "Grouch eye for a nice guy", "Desperate Houseplants" - even includes a gardener...)
But enough promoting the show (despite certain elements). I'm sure you already know all about Sesame Street. However, if you find yourself at home on weekdays, tune into Kids Central at 12.30pm. Unlikely as that may be. At home on weekday afternoons. There's an amusing thought.
Was watching it today, and as always, I love songs sung by the not-at-all-homosexual duo. Please, don't despoil our children's innocence by suggesting that ANY characters from children shows are gay symbols. They're only friends!
Thus, point your browsers over to SonyMusicStore.com and listen to some great samples of classic B&E songs. As usual, most of the action seems to take place at bed-time (I maintain they're as gay as Batman & Robin - the jury is still out on that one), but I really did like the sentiment behind "But I like you".
