Once upon a song

*** WARNING: Links may cause diabetic seizures. ***

I haven't thought this topic over long enough to make a sustained and coherent post, but the gist of my post is this: I miss old school Disney movies. More specifically, the princess series.

As cheesy and clichéd all the talking animals are, I really do miss that style of cartoon movies, especially with the more realistic art. Plus, the songs are great - memorable, even. I haven't seen these movies for years, but I still remember all the tunes and lyrics.

And Prince Charming? Sure, it's probably a stupid idea to the modern girl - some handsome guy suddenly steps into your life and takes all your troubles away. Too good to be true, right?

It's certainly not a popular idea at all. The men see Prince Charming as being the root of all their women problems, as they blame this concept of "The Perfect Man" for the romantic demands that women make. Women, on the other hand, resent the idea for being archaic and sexist - in that one would need a man to free you from your troubles.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but part of me really does wish it was THAT simple. This man just walks into your life one day ("I'm sorry, did I startle you?"), singing the perfect accompaniment to your life's love song. (If you REALLY want to up the romance ante, check out the french versions.)

Alright, it's NOT that I want this random dude to just suddenly walk into my life and complete it. It's the romance, and well, to be honest, the whimsical tunes, and the happily ever after that I really enjoy about these old Disney movies. Quite possibly also nostalgia, since these movies remind me so much of my childhood.

Yes, if only it were that simple. Marry a prince and no longer have to slave away at work. Honestly, I think that's the main inspiring point of this post. I don't want to do my work anymore. Heh.
