I watched an ant crawling across the car window today on the way to school.
Now, if I was having this conversation with someone, it would end rapidly with their response of "So?" or "Uh huh."
As it crawled, I saw it flex its wings, so it was no ordinary worker ant. It was a male drone. And so I wondered - where had it come from? Would it ever fulfill its purpose, ignominious as it was, to find a young queen, mate with her and then die or be eaten?
Understand that this isn't some philosophical bent that I'm taking towards this post in which I expound on the fragility of life and the possibility of being blown far off course because you stopped at the wrong place at the wrong time, of never accomplishing what you were made to do. (Oh, looks like I just did!)
This post is merely what it is - about an ant. On a window. A tiny... inconsequential life that no one would ordinarily notice or care about. Ants die everyday.
