At the instigation of a very close and personal friend whom I shall call Nathan henceforth (because I am master and ruler of this blog), I'm going to write a short piece about why bananas are my favourite incidental fruit.
First, let me explain what I mean by "incidental". This word describes the kind of fruits that I pick up to eat of my own volition. Examples of fruits I only eat when served or ordered to are as follows: pears, oranges, watermelons, pineapples, lychee, longans, mangosteens...
As you can see, there is a common quality that binds all these fruits together - they are troublesome to eat.
It's a strange trait of mine, but I often express preference towards foods that don't require a lot of effort to eat. If I hadn't been born in today's world of convenience, I might be dead. Or perhaps it's a affliction of modern life...
Anyway, I like bananas because 1) You don't have to wash them, 2) You don't need a knife to peel them, 3) No discernable seeds!
My list of incidental fruits is quite small however, so the "favourite" part might be by default... I have been known to eat apples, on occassion, and there were strawberries (which are my favourite non-incidental fruit), but because you have to wash them, I don't immediately have the urge to eat them when I see them.
Unlike bananas. Case in point: Came home today, saw bananas on the table and just picked one up to eat. If it were any other fruit, I wouldn't be doing it.
Seriously though... don't you think bananas are awfully ergonomic? And they have many uses!

On second thought, those two last sentences sound awfully dodgy!
